CLIENT: MJ Manufacturing, Inc.
PROJECT: Company Logo
MJ Manufacturing is a custom metal fabrication shop started in 1990 by my parents, John and Dawn Mueller. In January 2006 I took on the project of designing a website and brochure for the company. However, my first order of business was to create a new company logo. By creating the logo first I would then be able to create a more unified look with the website and literature.
I wanted this logo to be simple and geometric in order to communicate a mechanical feeling. The text used for manufacturing further enhanced that feeling with its sharp edges. In order to provide some contrast I used an italic sans-serif font with a wider stroke. I also kept the red primary color from the previous logo to maintain some resemblance with the previous logo. The symbol is derived from a pattern commonly created on a turret punch press. Overall, I feel the logo is a clean and crisp design the successfully gives off a mechanical feeling that represents the business. |
